Before the round: know your role's one sentence
BloxNote deals roles at round start, and each has a single goal. Investigator: complete all tasks. L: help the Investigators find Kira, and stay alive, because the killers win by deleting L specifically. Kira and Kira Follower: delete everyone, working together. That is genuinely most of the ruleset - the game is closest to Among Us in shape, wearing Death Note clothing.
Servers hold up to 13 players, which is small for the genre and makes every individual suspicious. It also means rounds move quickly and a single absent Investigator's task bar is felt.
Your first three minutes
If you are on the town side, go straight to a task and keep someone in sight - not a crowd, one witness. The kill in recorded footage takes about a second, and it happens to people who drift off alone. If you are Kira or the Follower, your first minutes are about not having an alibi problem later: be seen, be boring, remember who saw you.
One recorded round shows what not to do: half the lobby followed each other around arguing about who looked suspicious while the round lost time. Tasks first, deduction second.
What the lobby and the map look like
The one map BloxNote ships is a recreation, per the long review: the reviewer says the developers took it from Death Note: Killer Within and did a good job rebuilding it, from the animations to the victory screens to the lobby, which has chess boards most people ignore. The menus, the L command card interface and the shop all get passing marks in that review - the criticism is reserved for balance and missing systems, not for how the game looks.
Expect rough edges anyway. The game labels itself v0.1, has updated daily since 9 September 2026, and the review's core complaint - one command card, ambiguous notebook passes, missing chat notifications - is the state of a game nine days old as of this writing. Set expectations accordingly and check the updates page for what has changed since.
Your first meeting
When a body comes up, the lobby talks and then votes, and skipping is allowed. The best first-meeting habit comes straight from footage: say only what you actually saw, and skip if that is nothing. Two players in the round we cite voted on vibes and were wrong; the player who skipped learned more than they would have by guessing.
Also calibrate your paranoia correctly: the notebook pass in the current version looks exactly like pocketing it, per a long review from 11 September 2026. A fifty-fifty tell is not a tell. Do not burn a vote on it.
What we have not checked
Queue times, whether lobbies fill reliably at off-peak hours, and how role assignment balances 13 seats. A commenter on one video says the game had around 100 concurrent players in its first week - as of 13 September 2026 our own sampler puts the game's live count on the home page, updated automatically.
